Rainy days can be boring at the best of times. Here at We Buy Any House, we have compiled our top tips on how to keep occupied at home on a rainy day.
Indoor Play:
Although your children may not be able to be as boisterous as they would be if they were running around outside, if the weather isn’t working in your favour, then a great alternative is to let them play indoors. However, before you panic- this doesn’t include running riot and playing football! Whether you let them indulge in old school games such as ‘the floor is lava’, or simply play tag- it’s a great way to keep them out of the cold yet entertained.
Create an At-Home Restaurant:
Cooking is not only a great way to pass the time, but it’s also an excellent way to bond with your children. To make it simply more than just cooking, you could come up with a playful concept such as opening up a mini-restaurant or café. Then, let your children pick what they want on the menu, and get them to illustrate food designs and be the taste testers for you.
Spend Time Tailoring:
Somewhere in all our homes, we have a pesky pile of clothes that need tailoring, but somehow never end up being put on the pile. Therefore, it’s a good idea that if the weather is rainy and miserable outside, that perhaps now is the perfect time to grab your sewing basket and needle and begin sorting out all of those clothes that need altering.
Do and Indoor Treasure Hunt:
Treasure hunts are fun at any age- and the beauty of them is that they keep your kids occupied for hours. Start off by making clues for your children, perhaps a rhyme or riddle, and then let the fun commence! It’s a great way to keep things lighthearted and fun for a few hours, and at the end there can be a mini prize for the winner.
Have a Self-Care Day:
Face masks, bubble baths, manicures and pedicures- sounds like heaven! And although you may think this relaxing notion will inevitably be ruined by screaming children who are running around, why not get them involved? Children deserve to be relaxed too! To make things a little more fun and creative, you could all make your own hair and body masks using household ingredients.
Do a Board Game:
Nothing says old-school fun like getting stuck into a board game! Whether it’s something that can take hours, such as Monopoly, or a simplified version of snakes and ladders for your children, it’s a great way to make the time tick by and gives everyone a chance to put their technological devices to the side for a minute and get involved with family activities.
